Our Programs and Curriculum
Learning Through Play and Montessori Methods
Serving Infants 6 weeks through Pre-K
We have four different programs we offer at SonrisaLandia:
"Las Mariposas" (Butterflies) is for our youngest friends ages 6 weeks through 12 months. We exceed the state-mandated child-teacher ratio, provide a warm and loving environment all while introducing Spanish to our infants so they have the opportunity to learn Spanish alongside the language spoken at home.
"Las Mariquitas" (Ladybugs) is for our young toddlers. We focus on play, outdoor and tactile activities, and age appropriate art projects. Spanish language comprehension increases and our young toddlers love "working" in the garden.
"Los abejas" (Bumblebees) is our older toddler class. Art projects, music, outdoor play, advancing language skills, gardening and self-guided centers fill their day with wonder and learning.
"Los Saltamontes" (Grasshoppers is our pre-kindergarten class). Children are advancing in both English and Spanish and preparing for Kindergarten so they do not fall behind their monolingual peers in English. This class does it all including music class, dancing, growing vegetables, and they keep us on our toes!

The Gift of Bilingualism
At SonrisaLandia, we provide a unique preschool experience that blends Spanish Immersion with a Montessori curriculum. Our approach is fully immersive, as all of our teachers exclusively communicate with the children in Spanish, except for their daily English class. This approach gives our students the best of both worlds: a strong foundation in Spanish and preparation for Kindergarten readiness in English.
Our Directors and Teachers will all be Montessori Trained and/or certified through our partners at AIM Montessori; books, activities, and songs are all in Spanish, giving children a valuable opportunity to learn a second language while enjoying a high-quality preschool education. We take great pride in offering the gift of bilingualism to our students, and we can only do so with the support of our SonrisaLandia families. Outdoor Play & Play-Based Learning
At SonrisaLandia, we believe that play is the foundation of learning. As Maria Montessori famously said, "Play is the work of the child."
We follow the Montessori method and seek to foster the natural interests and activities of children, rather than relying solely on desk work and worksheets. We place a strong emphasis on independence, hands-on learning, and a supportive and well-prepared environment that is tailored to the child's needs. By keeping everything at the child's level and promoting self-directed play, we help our students to develop both academically and socially. Our approach to learning is holistic, encompassing all aspects of a child's development - social, emotional, physical, and academic. We achieve this through a variety of activities such as indoor and outdoor play, art, music, gardening, and reading. Above all, we aim to provide a safe, loving, and peaceful environment in which children can thrive.
