How SonrisaLandia Started and Grew

SonrisaLandia was founded by the Armstrong Family - Amanda and Andrew - who had raised their three boys in a primarily English-speaking household. However, their children had been attending Spanish Immersion preschools since infancy and they had seen first-hand the amazing benefits of bilingualism. Although their sons had learned Spanish to a near-fluent level, they were not satisfied with the style of learning provided by the existing Spanish Immersion preschools. They wanted to create a Montessori Spanish Immersion Preschool that not only gave children the gift of learning a second language but also provided a peaceful indoor and outdoor facility where children could learn gardening and enjoy the outdoors more during the day. In addition, they wanted to serve their community and other working parents; as they have been working parents themselves and know the importance of high quality childcare and how it fosters success not only in the home but supports parents to grow in their careers as well. And so, SonrisaLandia was born!

Located near the Armstrong's home, it was important to them that the school serve their community. As part of its mission to be inclusive, SonrisaLandia reserves at least 10% of enrollment for families who need assistance with quality daycare on a sliding scale basis. This is one of the ways in which the Armstrongs & SonrisaLandia are committed to serving and supporting their community.
